Concealed Carry Information

Qualified individuals wishing to obtain a license to lawfully carry a concealed handgun may contact the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Records Division (Phone numbers can be found under About->Contact Information) to make an appointment for processing their application.  Appointments can be made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM excluding 12:00 PM and are limited to one appointment per hour.   

The applicant must be at least 21 years of age and bring the following information when they come in for their appointment:

First Time applicants need the following:

·         Completed current application

·         Original or copy of training certificate

·         Current Ohio Driver’s License or Ohio State ID

·         One Color Passport Photo (taken within the last 30 days)

·         Fee (see below)

To Renew your current license, you will need the following:

·         Completed current application

·         Current Ohio Driver’s License or Ohio State ID

·         Concealed Hangun License (Valid or Expired)

·         Fee (see below)

Fees (Non-Refundable):
·         New Issue, Ohio resident for 5 or more years:  $67.00
·         New Issue, Ohio resident for less than 5 years:  $91.00
·         Renewal, Ohio resident for 5 or more years:  $50.00
·         Renewal, Ohio resident for less than 5 years:  $74.00
·         Emergency, Ohio resident for 5 or more years:  $37.00
·         Emergency, Ohio resident for less than 5 years:  $61.00
·         Replacement, for lost license or address change:  $15.00
 

Fees must be made payable to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office by one of the following methods:

·         Money Order

·         Cashier’s Check

·         Certified Bank Check

No Cash, Personal or Business Checks will be accepted.

The Sheriff’s Office has up to 45 days for processing of your application.  Upon processing completion, you will be contacted and advised that your license is ready for pick up.  Pick up dates are Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM with no appointment necessary.  You will be contacted in writing should your application be denied.
