On Thursday April 8th the Lorain County Sheriff's Office will start
distributing and accepting applications to comply with the new
Concealed Carry Law enacted in Ohio.
Applications for
the Gun license will only be accepted at the Sheriff's Office on
Murray Ridge Road, no applications will be available at the
sub-stations. The hours to drop off completed License applications
will be 8 am thru 6 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Sheriff
Stammitti wants to remind everyone when picking up or dropping off
applications that they DO NOT bring their gun with them. We also want
to remind everyone to check over the application to make sure it is
completely filled out and have their picture and training certificate
with the application.
The fee
for the license is $55.00 dollars. If you have not been a resident of
Ohio for five years, the fee will be $79.00 dollars as additional
background checks are required.
Payment for the
license will be accepted in the following forms; Certified bank
check, Money order or cashiers check; cash will not be accepted.
Ohio law allows
forty-five days to process the applications; with the volume of
persons expected to submit applications, we are asking people to be
patient. Applications will be processed as swiftly as possible.
