K-9 Unit

Police Canines save literally hundreds of man hours each year searching for criminal suspects and missing persons.

Police K-9's, with the use of their special sense of smell, can search the same location for a person in fractions of the time that a Deputy could. This ability allows a quicker process, freeing Deputies for more patrol time and community service.

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit consists of Deputy Bob Perkins and K-9 Drago, Deputy Dave Lottman and
K-9  Jake and Corrections Officer John Parks and K-9 Casper. Drago and Jake work out of the Patrol Division while Officer Parks and Casper operate within the County Jail and Corrections Division. The K-9's are professionally trained in locating, controlling and apprehending criminal suspects, crowd control, locating missing or lost persons, narcotics detection and protecting their handler from harm.
